Guess Spot utilizes Wikipedia to determine the data listed for each artist. We strive to keep errors to a minimum and to update data as new information is released.
- GENDER
We currently have 4 possible answers here, with "Mixed" serving as a combination as any of the others in a duo or group:
| · Female |
· Male |
· Mixed |
· Nonbinary |
- PROJECT SIZE
The number of artists or band members in the act. We currently have 3 possible answers here:
- ORIGIN
The artist's nationality, represented by the flag of that country or territory. Acts holding citizenship in multiple countries will typically show the flag indicating where the band was formed. This answer will light up yellow if your guess is on the correct continent, but incorrect country/territory.
- GENRE
The artist's primary or parent genre. Possible answers here are:
| · Alternative |
· Blues |
· Classical |
· Country |
· Electronic |
| · Folk |
· Hip Hop |
· Jazz |
· Latin |
· Metal |
| · Pop |
· R&B |
· Reggae |
· Rock |
· World |
- SUBGENRE
The artist's secondary or more specific genre. There are many more options to unpack here, and while we won't get too crazy with micro-genres, we will generally try to list a well-known genre, scene, or movement to help pinpoint who the artist could be. It is possible for the subgenre to overlap with a main genre, such as an artist being "Pop" and "R&B".
- DEBUT YEAR
The earliest recorded release year for an artist's content. The artist must be the primary/lead artist on the recording (not a feature, and not with their band before going solo). The type of recording can be an LP, EP, mixtape, soundtrack, or single. An up or down arrow will indicate if the correct artist's debut year is newer or older than your guess, with the answer lighting up yellow if your guess is within 5 years of the correct answer.
- LPs
The number of studio LPs (albums) the artist has released. EPs, mixtapes, soundtracks, collaborations, live albums, and singles do not count; due to this, it is possible for the LP count to be 0. An up or down arrow will indicate if the correct artist has more or fewer LPs, with the answer lighting up yellow if your guess is within 3 LPs of the correct answer.
- BILLBOARD 200
The artist's highest charting album on the US Billboard Top 200. Unlike the "LPs" answer, it is possible for other EP or album types to count. Singles, however, still do not factor in here. An up or down arrow will indicate if the correct artist has charted higher or lower, with the answer lighting up yellow if your guess is within 20 spots of the correct answer. Artists who have not charted on the Billboard 200 will display as "N/A" without an arrow.
